A former employee of the studio recently disclosed on LinkedIn that a project in development for several years was abruptly halted this week. The reasons behind the cancellation remain undisclosed, leaving fans and followers of the studio puzzled about the future of the project.

Last year, gaming journalist Jeff Grubb reported that this project was not a mainline entry in its series, specifically clarifying that it was not Titanfall 3. To bring this vision to life, Respawn Entertainment established a unique "experimental team" tasked with pushing the boundaries of multiplayer shooter development. This team was composed of experts renowned for their skills in crafting engaging multiplayer experiences.

This isn't the first time Respawn has had to pull the plug on a promising project. Previously, they canceled another endeavor, an arcade shooter codenamed Titanfall Legends, which was shut down last year. The Titanfall series, celebrated for its exhilarating mix of action and mech piloting, allows players to switch between agile pilots and commanding Titans. Since its debut in 2014, the franchise has captivated gamers with its innovative gameplay, featuring parkour and intense team-based combat.

Currently, Respawn's focus has shifted to other exciting ventures. They are diligently working on the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series, promising more adventures in the beloved galaxy far, far away. Additionally, in collaboration with Bit Reactor, they are developing a new strategy game set within the Star Wars universe, further expanding their portfolio and engaging fans with fresh content.
