Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remake Unveiled with Major Gameplay Enhancements

Feb 22,25

An unannounced remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been detailed on the MP1st website. The information, reportedly sourced from the anonymized portfolio of a former Virtuos Studio developer, reveals a significant undertaking. The remake, built using Unreal Engine 5, will feature substantial changes to the original game.

The portfolio highlights a complete reimagining of Oblivion. This includes overhauls to core mechanics such as stamina, stealth, attack blocking, archery, damage reactions, and the user interface. The blocking system, for instance, is said to be inspired by Soulslike games, addressing criticisms of the original's underwhelming implementation. Damage calculations have been reworked to include visible impact reactions, and stamina management is expected to be improved. The UI and archery mechanics will also receive modern updates.

MP1st suggests the project may have evolved from a planned remaster (as hinted at in leaked Microsoft documents) into a full-scale remake. While sources have confirmed the remake won't be unveiled at the upcoming Developer_Direct, rumors suggest a possible release within the year.
