RAID Shadow Legends: Understanding the Pity System and Its Effectiveness

May 07,25

RAID: Shadow Legends is well-known for its RNG-based (random number generator) system when it comes to summoning champions. The thrill of pulling shards can quickly turn into frustration, particularly when you go through dozens or even hundreds of pulls without securing a desired Legendary champion. To mitigate this, Plarium introduced a feature known as the "Pity System." In this guide, we'll delve into how this system functions, its effectiveness, and its impact on free-to-play (F2P) and low-spender players.

What Is the Pity System in RAID: Shadow Legends?

The Pity System is a hidden mechanic designed to boost your chances of pulling higher rarity champions, specifically Epic and Legendary, the longer your dry streak lasts. Essentially, if you're experiencing an extended run of bad luck, the game incrementally increases your odds until you finally land a valuable pull. This mechanism aims to prevent those disheartening long stretches where players open numerous shards without obtaining a noteworthy champion. Although Plarium doesn't openly promote this system within the game, its existence has been verified by dataminers, developers, and countless player experiences.

Sacred Shards

The base chance of pulling a Legendary from a Sacred Shard is 6% per pull. However, the Pity System activates after 12 pulls without a Legendary:

  • After your 12th Sacred pull with no Legendary, each subsequent pull increases your Legendary odds by 2%.
  • This progression means:
    • 13th pull = 8% chance
    • 14th pull = 10% chance
    • 15th pull = 12% chance

Is the Pity System Helpful for the Average Player?

Determining the helpfulness of the Pity System isn't straightforward. It doesn't consistently aid players on a regular basis, as many have noted that the pity threshold is often reached after they've already pulled a Legendary. Therefore, the real question becomes how the system could be improved. The presence of a Pity System is undoubtedly beneficial, especially in a gacha game like RAID: Shadow Legends.

For F2P players, the constant struggle of not pulling Legendary champions after extensive grinding and farming can be disheartening. Thus, the system is essential. However, it could be enhanced with a few adjustments. For instance, reducing the pity threshold from 200 to around 150 or 170 pulls would enable players to save more shards regularly and make the pity feel more tangible.

To enhance your RAID: Shadow Legends experience, consider playing on a larger screen using your PC or laptop with a keyboard and mouse via BlueStacks, offering a smoother and more immersive gameplay.
